A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
